How to Get a Refund — Step by Step
- 1Log into your GetYourGuide account and go to 'My Bookings.'
- 2Select the activity you want to cancel and follow the cancellation prompts.
- 3Alternatively, use GetYourGuide's 'Cancel booking' tool without logging in: enter your booking reference number and PIN (found on your voucher) to cancel.
- 4Receive a cancellation confirmation email with refund details.
- 5Track your refund status using the refund-status tool with your booking reference and PIN.
- 6If you need to modify (not cancel) a booking, contact GetYourGuide support — some activities allow participant changes or date changes without cancellation.
When You Can Get a Refund
- Most activities are eligible for a full refund if canceled at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time.
- Each activity listing specifies its cancellation policy: Fully Refundable, Partially Refundable, or Non-Refundable — check the 'About this activity' section before booking.
- Cancellations made within 24 hours of the activity start time, or no-shows, are not eligible for a refund under the standard policy.
- Non-refundable activities cannot be cancelled for a refund once the booking is confirmed.
- If the activity operator cancels the activity, you are entitled to a full refund or rebooking at no extra cost.
- Weather-related cancellations by the operator typically result in a full refund or rescheduling option.
All Refund Methods
- Original payment method (credit card, debit card, PayPal, etc.): refund processed within 3–5 business days
- GetYourGuide refund gift card (at your request) as an alternative to original payment method refund
- Cancellation Upgrade payout (if purchased): provided by partner Companjon for cancellations up to 1 hour before the activity
Partial Refunds
- Some activities are marked as 'Partially Refundable' — you will receive a partial refund if canceled within the allowed window.
- If you cancel a booking with multiple participants, you may be able to reduce the number of participants for a partial refund instead of canceling entirely.
- Late cancellations (within 24 hours but before the activity starts) may receive a partial refund at the operator's discretion.
- The optional Cancellation Upgrade (powered by Companjon) allows cancellation for any reason up to 1 hour before the activity starts with a full payout — this costs an additional fee at checkout.
Dispute Process
- Contact GetYourGuide's 24/7 multilingual customer support via live chat, email, phone, or the mobile app chat function.
- If the activity was significantly different from the description or the operator did not deliver the promised experience, request a refund through customer support.
- GetYourGuide mediates between customers and activity operators for disputed bookings.
- If GetYourGuide does not resolve your issue, file a dispute with your credit card company or bank, or escalate through consumer protection channels in your jurisdiction.
Additional Notes
- Always check the specific cancellation policy for each activity before booking — not all activities have the standard 24-hour free cancellation.
- Use the 'Reserve Now & Pay Later' option (available for select activities) to secure your spot without immediate payment — this gives you flexibility to cancel without financial risk.
- The Cancellation Upgrade add-on (provided by Companjon insurance) costs a small additional fee but allows cancellation for any reason up to 1 hour before the activity.
- GetYourGuide offers 24/7 customer support in multiple languages via live chat, email, phone, and mobile app.
- Group bookings and private tours may have stricter cancellation terms — check individual listings.
- If you purchased GetYourGuide gift cards, they are typically non-refundable but can be transferred.
- Refund processing times may be longer for international transactions or certain payment methods — allow extra time if paying in a different currency.
