How to Get a Refund — Step by Step
- 1Access the "Manage My Booking" section on the FlixBus website or through the FlixBus app.
- 2Locate the booking you wish to cancel from your upcoming trips.
- 3Select the option to cancel the entire trip or specific parts of the journey, such as individual journeys, passengers, seats, or excess baggage.
- 4Confirm the cancellation.
- 5A new booking confirmation, which includes the refund voucher, will be sent to your email address after the cancellation.
When You Can Get a Refund
- Cancellation must be made at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
- Refunds for voluntary cancellations are issued in the form of a voucher.
- Booking fees and service fees are non-refundable.
- The refund amount (as a percentage of the ticket price) depends on how far in advance the ticket is canceled.
- Tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable after the bus has departed.
- Tickets are non-transferable.
Partial Refunds
- Less than 2 days before departure: 20% refund of the ticket price.
- Between 2 and 6 days before departure: 40% refund of the ticket price.
- Between 7 and 29 days before departure: 70% refund of the ticket price.
- 30 days or more before departure: 100% refund of the ticket price.
- Extras, such as seat reservations and excess baggage, receive a 100% refund.
Additional Notes
- The refund percentage calculation is based on the exact time of departure (hour, minute, second).
- In cases where FlixBus cancels a ride or is responsible for a significant delay, customers (for EU and US rides) may be entitled to alternative options, including rescheduling free of charge or processing a cash refund via "Manage My Booking" in certain situations.
- Self cash or voucher refunds via "Manage My Booking" are generally not available for offline cash purchases or when the original purchase was made partially or fully with a voucher.
