Return Conditions
- Items must be returned in original condition (not washed, worn, damaged or altered) and with all hangtags and original packaging where possible.
- Certain items may include an additional security tag that must remain attached and intact.
- For in-store returns, plastic bags with barcodes your items arrived in are needed.
Refund Methods
- Cash refund or charge credit (with receipt within return window).
- Merchandise credit (with gift receipt, without receipt, or if purchased partly/entirely with TJ Maxx Gift Card or PayPal in-store).
- Charge credit for PayPal purchases returned by mail (minus shipping fee).
Exceptions & Restrictions
- Merchandise bought in store cannot be returned online.
- Merchandise that is used, worn, or in unsellable condition will not be accepted.
- Items over $1000, handbags over $499.99, footwear over $499.99, and long occasion gowns are not eligible for in-store return.
- Shipping and handling costs and shipping surcharges are non-refundable.
- An $11.99 return shipping and handling fee is deducted from the refund for mail returns.
- Merchandise credits issued for returns without a receipt may not be used for online purchases.
- Items purchased at tjmaxx.com cannot be returned to Marshalls or other sister brands.
Online / Mail Returns
- By mail: Accepted if they arrive at the warehouse within 40 days of order date; an $11.99 return shipping and handling fee is deducted.
- In-store: Merchandise purchased online can be returned to any T.J. Maxx store within 40 days of order date for free.
In-Store Returns
- Purchases made in-store: Return to any T.J. Maxx store within 30 days of purchase.
- Bring item(s) and either your receipt or shipping confirmation email.
Gift Returns
- With a gift receipt, receive merchandise credit.
- If purchased partly or entirely with a T.J. Maxx Gift Card, receive merchandise credit.
Price Adjustments
- T.J. Maxx does not offer price adjustments for marked down or clearance merchandise that was previously purchased.
Additional Notes
- For returns without a receipt, a valid government-issued photo ID, name, address, and signature will be required.
- Our return policies are always subject to local, state and federal restrictions.
- T.J. Maxx is subject to fraudulent return activity.

Edit: Given the responses here, I decided to call my closest Marshalls and TJ stores, both of which are standalones, not Homegoods combos. (They are in different towns near me; we don't have any TJX stores in my zip code.) So the associate at Marshalls said they do not take returns from other stores
