Return Conditions
- Items must be unworn, unwashed, or defective.
- Items must be returned in original condition with original packaging and materials.
- All original tags must be attached.
- Shoes must be returned in their original box.
- All intimate apparel must be returned in original condition, with original packaging and tags attached.
- All swimwear must be in new and unused condition with sanitary strips in place.
Refund Methods
- Original form of payment if returned within 30 days of delivery.
- Free People e-gift card if received after 30 days of delivery.
- A new e-gift card if the original purchase was made with a gift card or e-gift card.
- Merchandise credit card for store purchases returned with a gift receipt.
Exceptions & Restrictions
- Sale and clearance items may have different return conditions.
- Custom orders may have different return conditions.
- FP MART items must be returned directly to the seller, and their return policy may vary.
- Vintage Loves and Vintage Revival items cannot be returned.
- Opened and used Beauty and Wellness products cannot be returned.
- E-gift cards and gift cards cannot be returned or exchanged.
- Merchandise purchased at independent boutiques and department stores must be returned to the location where purchased.
- Nuuly Resale items are final sale and cannot be returned online or in store.
- Items received after one year from delivery will no longer be accepted for return or exchange.
- Free People is not responsible for non-Free People items shipped back in error.
- FP MART items do not offer exchanges; customers must return the item and place a new order for a different size or color.
Online / Mail Returns
- Use the 'Start A Return (US)' link on the website to print a return label.
- Enter the order number and billing zip code.
- Pack all items in a secure carton or reuse the original packaging and enclose the packing slip.
- Drop off the package at any UPS location.
- Most items purchased online can be returned to any Free People store.
In-Store Returns
- Items purchased in a Free People store must be returned to a Free People store.
- Bring the item with the attached Free People price tickets and the original store sales receipt.
- For online purchases, bring the item along with the packing slip or digital receipt.
Gift Returns
- For online gift orders, use the 'Start A Return (US)' link, check 'This was a gift,' and enter the email address for the e-gift card.
- If the order number and billing zip code are unavailable for a gift order, contact customer service.
- Refunds for online gift returns will be issued as an e-gift card.
- For store purchases with a gift receipt, exchanges or refunds (merchandise credit) for the value indicated on the gift receipt are available in-store.
Damaged or Defective Items
- Free People accepts defective merchandise for return or exchange.
- Product-related issues, such as missing or damaged items/packages, must be reported within 30 days of the shipping date.
- For furniture and oversized items, if received after 30 days, they will replace or refund for manufacturer defects only.
Price Adjustments
- Price adjustments can be requested for online or phone orders by calling customer service.
- Price adjustments are not offered on shipping charges.
- Price adjustments are not offered for merchandise purchased at Free People store locations, independent boutiques, or department stores.
- Price adjustments are not offered for temporary promotions or discounts.
- Promotions or discounts cannot be applied retroactively to orders placed before the promotion or discount was activated.
Exchange Policy
- Items may be exchanged within 30 days of delivery.
- Unworn, unwashed, or defective merchandise can be exchanged.
- For online exchanges, if exchanging for the same item in a different size or color, the SmartLabel fee and return shipping may be waived.
- Placing a reorder by phone for an exchange may offer free shipping on the replacement order.
- If an exchange is requested after 30 days, store credit will be given.
Additional Notes
- Customers are responsible for return shipping costs for mail returns.
- Online returns incur a return shipping fee, while in-store returns are free.
- For online orders, the return window is determined by the delivery date.
- Product-related issues, such as missing or damaged items/packages, must be reported within 30 days of the shipping date.
- If an order placed online for Collection Point is not picked up, a $5.95 return fee will be deducted from the refund.
