Return Conditions
- The vehicle must be returned within 10 days of purchase.
- The vehicle's condition must be consistent with when you purchased it.
- The vehicle must be brought back to the CarMax store where you purchased it.
Refund Methods
- Any refund due back is typically mailed after the return is completed.
Exceptions & Restrictions
- Shipping fees paid to transfer the vehicle are separate from the purchase and are nonrefundable.
- If your financing included negative equity from a trade-in, you may need to repay that negative equity when returning the vehicle.
- If your financing included negative equity from a trade-in, CarMax says you can alternatively finance that amount with a different vehicle, subject to financing approval.
In-Store Returns
- Bring the vehicle back to the CarMax store where you purchased it and CarMax will help complete the return.
Additional Notes
- CarMax describes this as a Money Back Guarantee.
- For transferred vehicles, the transfer fee is not part of the refundable purchase amount.

I need a larger vehicle for a two week trip with another couple to the mountains. I can pay cash to CARMAX and opt for a full refund (for any reason) or I could pay Enterprise. Any thoughts?
