How to Get a Refund — Step by Step
- 1For in-store returns: bring the item with tags attached, original packaging, and your receipt to any Zara store in the United States.
- 2For online returns via mail: log into your Zara account, go to your order history, select the item to return, and request a return label.
- 3A prepaid return shipping label will be emailed to you — a $4.95 return fee is deducted from your refund amount.
- 4Pack the item in its original packaging, attach the return label, and drop it off at the designated courier location.
- 5For online purchases returned in-store (free): bring the item with its tags and your order confirmation or packing slip to any Zara store.
- 6After returning in-store, the refund is initiated immediately; for mail returns, allow 72 hours for inspection after delivery to Zara's facility.
- 7Track your refund status through your Zara account or by contacting Zara customer service.
When You Can Get a Refund
- Items must be in their original condition: unworn, unwashed, and undamaged.
- All original tags and labels must still be attached to the item.
- Items must be returned with original packaging and packing slip.
- Receipt or proof of purchase is required — Zara does not accept returns without a receipt, though exchanges for available sizes/colors may be possible at store discretion.
- Online purchases can be returned either in-store (free) or by mail ($4.95 fee deducted from refund).
- In-store purchases must be returned to a physical Zara store — they cannot be returned by mail.
- Exchanges are available in-store only, for the same item in a different size or color, within 30 days.
All Refund Methods
- Online purchases returned by mail or in-store: refund to original payment method within up to 14 days
- In-store purchases returned in-store: refund issued on a Zara Gift Card (store credit), not to original payment method
- Purchases made with a Zara Gift Card: refund issued to the same Gift Card or another Gift Card
- Cash purchases returned in-store: immediate cash refund at the register
Partial Refunds
- If returning only some items from a multi-item order, you receive a refund for only the returned items.
- The $4.95 online return shipping fee is deducted from your refund — return in-store to avoid this fee.
- Items purchased during a promotion or sale are refunded at the price you actually paid.
- If an item's tags are removed but the item is unused, the return may be accepted at store manager's discretion with a potential adjustment.
Dispute Process
- Contact Zara customer service through the Help Center on zara.com for return or refund issues.
- Use the live chat feature on the Zara website or app for real-time support.
- Call Zara US customer service at 1-855-635-9272 for escalated issues.
- If Zara does not resolve your issue, file a dispute with your credit card company or bank.
Additional Notes
- Non-returnable items: men's underwear, swimwear without the hygiene strip, opened or used cosmetics, opened fragrances, personalized/custom items, and items from the ZARA ATHLETICZ or limited collections marked as final sale.
- Women's undergarments may be returned if they are in original condition and retain the protective bag or sticker — men's undergarments may not be returned or exchanged.
- Kids' undergarments cannot be returned except for socks, tights, tops, bodysuits, and undershirts in original packaging.
- Accessories must be returned with their original bag or cardboard packaging intact.
- In-store purchases are refunded as Zara Gift Card credit, not to your original payment method — this is a key distinction from many other retailers.
- To avoid the $4.95 mail return fee, always return online purchases at a physical Zara store for free.
- Zara does not offer price adjustments or price matching after purchase.
