How to Get a Refund — Step by Step
- 1Follow the merchant’s return instructions and obtain proof of return (e.g., tracking number).
- 2Ensure the merchant processes the refund (do not accept store credit or third‑party refunds).
- 3Wait for Sezzle to receive the refund and send a confirmation email.
- 4Check the Sezzle dashboard or app for updated installment balances and the refunded amount.
- 5If the refund is not visible after ten business days, contact the merchant and then submit the “Get Help With this Order” form.
When You Can Get a Refund
- The merchant must issue a full or partial refund; store credit or third‑party refunds (e.g., PayPal) do not affect the Sezzle installment plan.
- All applicable service fees remain non‑refundable.
- If a refund is issued while there are unpaid installments, the refund amount is applied to reduce or cancel those installments.
- Refunds are only processed to a debit/credit card or ACH account on file; prepaid cards are excluded.
All Refund Methods
- Refunds are returned to the original debit/credit card or ACH account used for the purchase.
- If multiple payment methods were used, the refund is split proportionally among those methods.
- Refunds cannot be issued to prepaid cards.
Partial Refunds
- Partial refunds are applied proportionally to remaining installments; any excess is returned to the original payment method.
Dispute Process
- Disputes must be filed within 90 days of the purchase date via the Sezzle help center form.
- Sezzle’s disputes team reviews the case within 2–3 business days and may issue a full or partial refund directly from the dispute portal.
- If the dispute is resolved in the shopper’s favor, the installment plan is adjusted accordingly.
Additional Notes
- Fees associated with the order are non‑refundable even if the purchase is fully refunded.
- Refunds may appear as separate installment‑sized credits on the card statement rather than a single lump sum.
