How to Get a Refund — Step by Step
- 1For online or app transfers, log in to your MoneyGram profile, locate the transaction in your history, and select 'Cancel'.
- 2Alternatively, use the self-service portal online by providing your reference number, sender's last name, sender's date of birth, and receiver's last name.
- 3If you sent the transaction at a MoneyGram location, you can use the self-service portal or return to the same location and ask the agent to cancel it.
When You Can Get a Refund
- The receiver has not yet collected the funds or the funds have not been deposited into their account.
- A full refund, including fees, is issued if the transfer is canceled within 1 hour of payment.
- Cancellations made more than 1 hour and up to 180 days after payment will be refunded for the send amount only, excluding fees.
All Refund Methods
- Credit to the original card or bank account for online cancellations
- Cash refund for cancellations at an agent location
Partial Refunds
- For cancellations made more than 1 hour and up to 180 days after payment, you will be issued a refund for the send amount only, excluding fees.
Additional Notes
- Transfers cannot be canceled if the receiver has already collected the funds or if funds have been deposited into their account.
- If you cancel at the same agent location where you sent the money, you will receive the refund in cash.
- Your credit card company may charge a cash advance fee and interest charges on the original transaction.
