How to Get a Refund — Step by Step
- 1For hardware: return to Apple Store or initiate return at apple.com/shop/help/returns_refund
- 2For App Store / iTunes: go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID
- 3Tap 'I'd like to' and choose 'Request a refund'
- 4Select the reason for your refund and choose the specific purchase
- 5Submit the request — Apple reviews within 24-48 hours
- 6For AppleCare+ cancellation: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions, or contact Apple Support at getsupport.apple.com
When You Can Get a Refund
- Hardware: within 14 calendar days of receipt, in original condition with all parts, accessories, and packaging
- App Store / iTunes: within 90 days of purchase via reportaproblem.apple.com
- Subscriptions: refund for current billing period handled case-by-case
- Custom-configured Macs and engraved products: returnable within 14 days but cannot be exchanged in-store — refund to original payment only
All Refund Methods
- Hardware: original payment method, within 10 business days after item received
- App Store / iTunes: Apple Account balance (up to 48 hours), credit/debit card/Apple Pay (up to 30 days), mobile phone billing (up to 60 days)
- Gift receipt returns: Apple Gift Card (not cash refund)
- Partial payment with Apple Account balance: that portion refunded to balance, remainder to original payment method
Partial Refunds
- AppleCare+ within 30 days: full refund minus value of any service already provided
- AppleCare+ after 30 days: prorated refund based on percentage of unexpired coverage minus services rendered
- AppleCare+ monthly plans: cancel anytime, coverage through end of current billing period, no refund for current month
- Apple does not currently charge restocking fees in the U.S. for any returns, including custom-configured or opened products
- Products with Find My / Activation Lock enabled may be refused for return

Additional Notes
- Holiday extended returns: products purchased Nov 12 - Dec 25 can be returned through January 8 of the following year; carrier-financed iPhones excluded from holiday extension
- Gift cards cannot be returned or refunded
- Price protection: if Apple lowers the price within 14 days of purchase, you can request a refund of the difference (excludes limited-time sales and Black Friday)
- Trade-in program: eligible devices traded for instant credit or Apple Gift Card; online trade-ins must be shipped within 14 days; device condition affects final value
- Returns limited to country of purchase; bulk returns (10+ identical items) must be at original purchase location
- AppleCare+ purchased with iPhone Upgrade Program: returning means losing upgrade eligibility
