How to Cancel — Step by Step

  1. 1Log in to your Shopify admin as the store owner.
  2. 2From your Shopify admin, go to 'Settings' and then 'Plan'.
  3. 3Click on 'Cancel plan'. If you are on a free trial, it will say 'Cancel trial'.
  4. 4You may be presented with an option to 'Pause and build' your store instead. To proceed with cancellation, select 'Cancel plan' again.
  5. 5Select a reason for the deactivation and click 'Continue'.
  6. 6Enter your account password to confirm.
  7. 7Click 'Deactivate now' to finalize the cancellation.

Billed Through a Third Party?

  • If you have installed any third-party apps that have their own billing, you must cancel them separately to avoid future charges. Canceling your Shopify store does not automatically cancel third-party app subscriptions.

Reactivating Your Account

  • Your store information is guaranteed to be saved for 2 years after deactivation. You can reactivate your store during this period by logging in, selecting a new plan, and entering payment information.

Additional Notes

  • Before you can deactivate your store, you must settle any outstanding charges.
  • If you are on a free trial and have not yet selected a pricing plan, you do not need to take any action to cancel your account.
  • To deactivate a store on the Shopify Plus plan, you need to contact Shopify Plus Support directly.
