How to Cancel — Step by Step
- 1To cancel by phone, call customer service at 1-888-863-8768 (or 888-8-METRO-8) or dial *611 directly from your Metro by T-Mobile phone.
- 2If you wish to keep your number, initiate the port-out process with your new carrier. They will require your Metro by T-Mobile account number and a port-out PIN, which can be obtained via the My T-Mobile app or by calling Metro customer service at 1-800-937-8997. Your Metro by T-Mobile service will automatically terminate once the porting is complete.
- 3If you are not porting out and want to close your account, you can do so through the My Metro app or website by navigating to 'account,' then 'manage services,' and finally 'cancel service.'
- 4When canceling, be prepared to provide personal information to verify your identity and state your reason for cancellation. Ensure you receive confirmation that your cancellation request has been processed.
- 5Settle any outstanding balances, including device payments, to avoid issues.
Reactivating Your Account
- If a line is temporarily suspended and service is not restored by the next billing cycle, it will be automatically canceled.
- If service is limited, suspended, or terminated and subsequently reinstated, a reactivation fee may be charged.
- Once a number is canceled, it will remain inactive for 30 days before it becomes available for potential reuse, allowing time to port it to another carrier if desired.
Additional Notes
- Cancellations are future-dated and typically take effect at the end of your current billing cycle; you will be responsible for charges until then.
- To prevent unexpected charges, ensure AutoPay is turned off at least three business days before your next scheduled payment date through the Metro apps.
- It is advisable to save any important voicemails and download any necessary account information before canceling, as access to these may be lost once the service is terminated.
- Metro by T-Mobile offers prepaid wireless services and does not require contracts for its basic service.
