How to Cancel — Step by Step

  1. 1Go to chegg.com and log in with your account credentials.
  2. 2Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select 'My Account'.
  3. 3Click on 'Orders' in the account navigation menu.
  4. 4Scroll to the bottom of the Orders page to find the orange 'Cancel Subscription' button.
  5. 5Chegg may offer a 'Pause' option instead — decline if you want full cancellation.
  6. 6Click 'Cancel Subscription' and confirm the cancellation.
  7. 7You will receive a confirmation email and retain access until the end of your current billing period.

Billed Through a Third Party?

  • If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, cancel via iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Chegg → Cancel Subscription. Chegg cannot process App Store cancellations.
  • If you subscribed through Google Play, open Google Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Chegg → Cancel subscription.
  • Subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google cannot be paused — only cancelled or left to auto-renew.
  • Deleting the Chegg app does NOT cancel your subscription; you must cancel through the platform where you originally subscribed.

Reactivating Your Account

  • You can resubscribe at any time by visiting chegg.com and selecting a new plan.
  • If you paused instead of cancelling, your subscription resumes automatically after the pause period (up to 6 months), and your price is locked at the rate you were paying before the pause.
  • Previous study history, saved questions, and textbook solutions are retained in your account.

  • Chegg Study costs $15.95/month; Chegg Study Pack costs $19.95/month; Chegg Writing costs $9.95/month. An annual Chegg Study plan is available at $9.95/month ($119.40/year).
  • You can pause your subscription for up to 6 months instead of canceling — Chegg will not charge you during the pause, and your price is locked.
  • In September 2025, the FTC ordered Chegg to pay $7.5 million and change its subscription practices for violating ROSCA by making cancellation difficult.
  • Be mindful of your billing date — cancel before your next billing cycle starts to avoid an additional charge.

  • If you have a Chegg textbook rental, cancelling your Study subscription does not affect your rental — those are separate.
