Return Conditions
- Items must be in new, unused condition.
- Items must be in original packaging.
- All tags or labels attached.
- Products must not have been used extensively or enjoyed for an extended period of time.
Refund Methods
- Credit or debit card (for original payment with receipt).
- Store credit.
- Merchandise Credit Card (for returns without a receipt or after 120 days).
- Cash up to $400 for debit card/cash purchases; corporate check for amounts over $400.
- Cash up to $200 for check payments; corporate check for amounts over $200.
- New gift card (for items purchased using a gift card and returned with a receipt).
Exceptions & Restrictions
- Products that have been successfully utilized and enjoyed for an extended period of time are not eligible for a return or refund.
- Returns for reasons such as moving or no longer needing the product will not qualify.
- Customized or personalized items are non-returnable.
- Gift card purchases require the original receipt and the actual gift card for a refund of the gift card itself.
- Avera and Laren Custom Closets and installation services are excluded from price adjustments.
- Previous promotions cannot be adjusted for price adjustments.
Online / Mail Returns
- Accepted via mail.
- Ship to: 500 Freeport Parkway, Suite 100, Coppell, TX 75019.
- Shipping fees apply.
In-Store Returns
- Accepted at any Container Store location.
- No shipping or restocking fees for in-store returns.
- For Instacart orders, returns must be made in person and will receive store credit.
Gift Returns
- Merchandise returned with a receipt where original payment was a gift card will have the amount credited to a new gift card.
- Returns without a receipt will receive a Merchandise Credit card.
Membership & Rewards Benefits
- The Organized Insider rewards program offers a $10 off coupon, a special birthday discount, exclusive access to store events, and special previews of new products.
Damaged or Defective Items
- If any merchandise arrives damaged, ensure it is noted on the carrier's delivery record.
- Notify customer service immediately.
- The Container Store offers warranties for specific products (e.g., private label trash cans, Elfa, Avera/Preston) for defects in material and workmanship.
Price Adjustments
- Available if the full original retail price of a product is lowered within 7 days of purchase.
- Original purchase receipt is required.
- Avera and Laren Custom Closets and installation services are excluded.
- Previous promotions cannot be adjusted.
Exchange Policy
- Exchanges are accepted within 120 days of purchase with the original receipt.
- The item must be in its original condition.
- Exchanges can be made in-store or via mail.
- Customers have the option to exchange for "another solution".
Additional Notes
- Original shipping charges are not refunded for mail returns.
- Return shipping fees apply for mail returns; customer is responsible for return shipping costs.
- Instacart orders must be returned in person to a store.
- The Container Store offers a "Love It, Live With It! Our Return Promise": if products don't meet expectations, customers can return them for another solution or a refund.
