Return Conditions
- All returned items must be in their original condition; shrink-wrapped or sealed products must be unopened.
- Shipping fees are not refunded.
- For mail returns, the packing slip or a printout of the Shipping Confirmation email with the order number written on the outside of the box must be included.

Exceptions & Restrictions
- If PayPal was used for an online order, returns to a store will receive store credit in the form of a Barnes & Noble Gift Card or in-store credit.
- Returns of textbook purchases to a store will receive store credit.
- NOOK device returns are within 14 days of receipt (or 60 days with a Gift Receipt).
- A valid Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) must be obtained from Customer Service before mailing out a NOOK device.
- Warranty-related NOOK device returns have a specific mailing address and require contacting Customer Service prior to mailing.
Additional Notes
- Refunds are processed within 24 hours but may take several business days to appear on online statements depending on the card issuer.
- Customers can bring returns to any Barnes & Noble store with the item and packing slip, Order Confirmation e-mail, or Billing Summary email, along with the original form of payment.
