How to Cancel — Step by Step
- 1Open the Acorns app and tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- 2Tap 'Settings' from the dropdown menu.
- 3Go to the 'Personal' section and tap 'Subscription.'
- 4Select 'Close my account' at the bottom of the subscription page.
- 5Acorns will walk you through closing each account type (Invest, Later, Checking) — follow the prompts for each.
- 6Withdraw any pending investments and transfer your Checking balance before finalizing.
- 7Confirm the closure — you will receive an email confirmation once complete.
Billed Through a Third Party?
- Acorns subscriptions are billed directly through Acorns — there is no Apple App Store or Google Play billing option.
- If you set up Round-Ups linked to a debit or credit card, those will stop automatically when you close your account.
- Recurring investments will be canceled automatically upon account closure.
Reactivating Your Account
- You can reopen an Acorns account at any time by downloading the app and signing up again.
- Previous account data and investment history may not be recoverable after closure.
- Any IRA (Acorns Later) must be rolled over to another IRA provider or withdrawn — early withdrawal before age 59½ incurs tax penalties.
Additional Notes
- Acorns Bronze: $3/month — Invest account (core or ESG portfolio), Later (IRA), Checking account, Acorns Earn rewards, and basic financial education.
- Acorns Silver: $6/month — everything in Bronze plus Emergency Savings, 1% IRA match on new contributions (first year), and enhanced financial content.
- Acorns Gold: $12/month — everything in Silver plus 3% IRA match (first year), kids investment account (Acorns Early) with 1% match, custom portfolios, tax filing tools, and a $10,000 life insurance policy.
- Closing your Invest account sells all ETF positions, which may trigger capital gains tax — consult a tax advisor before closing.
- If you have an Acorns Later (IRA) account, you must roll it over to another IRA or accept early withdrawal penalties before the account can be fully closed.
- Transfer your Acorns Checking balance to an external bank account before closing — any remaining balance will be sent to your linked bank.
- The full cancellation process typically takes about 15 minutes; fund transfers take 3–6 business days.
- Customer support: support@acorns.com or through the in-app help center.

Hey all. I felt a bit emotional "cancelling my subscription" tonight and I just wanted to share with you my experience with Acorns. Coming from a lower class background and being used to bouncing accounts I was looking for something to help me start saving money. It all started in 2017 when I heard
Acorns Investing app won't let me cancel my subscription. Just the same error message over and over.
Acorns won't let me cancel my subscription
I do not remember subscribing to acorns when I created an account, but let's assume for the sake of argument that I accidentally set up a recurring payment. Acorns has locked my account, and refuses to let me cancel my subscription unless I upload a utility bill and photo of my ID. I have no interes
Acorns. My offer pended so when can I cancel the subscription?
I don't really care about the $5 bonus from Swagbucks because it pends for 32 days, meaning I'd have to pay the $1 for next month's sub to get it right?
