Refund Conditions
Starbucks
- Food and drink purchases are not formally refundable, but baristas will replace or remake any drink or food item you are unsatisfied with for free.
- Packaged merchandise (coffee bags, tea, tumblers, mugs) can be returned within 60 days of purchase with the original receipt.
- Merchandise must be unused and in original condition for a full refund.
- Mobile orders can be canceled within 30 minutes via the Starbucks app under Order History, but cancellation may not be available if the order is already being prepared.
- Orders placed through third-party delivery apps (Uber Eats, DoorDash) must be refunded through that delivery service, not Starbucks directly.
- Starbucks Card balance refunds are handled as store credit, not cash.
McDonald's
- The issue must be with a Mobile Order & Pay transaction, excluding delivery.
- For delivery orders placed through the McDonald's app, you must identify the third-party delivery service (e.g., Uber Eats, DoorDash) and contact them directly.
- The decision of how to resolve a refund request is at the discretion of the restaurant where the purchase was made.
Refund Steps
Starbucks
- For wrong or unsatisfactory drinks/food: tell the barista at the store and they will remake it or provide an alternative item at no charge.

- For merchandise returns: bring the item with the original receipt to any participating Starbucks location within 60 days.
- For delivery order issues: open the third-party delivery app (Uber Eats, DoorDash, etc.), find your order, and report the issue through their support.

- Alternatively, use Starbucks live chat support (available 4 AM–10 PM PT, 7 days a week) or email info@starbucks.com.
McDonald's
- For issues with Mobile Order & Pay (excluding delivery), return to the restaurant where you made the purchase.
- Contact the restaurant where the purchase was made.
- If you placed a delivery order through the McDonald's app, identify the delivery vendor (Uber Eats or DoorDash) from your receipt.
- Contact the identified delivery partner directly for resolution.

Additional Notes
Starbucks
- Baristas are generally very accommodating about remaking drinks — do not hesitate to ask if something is wrong with your order.
- Starbucks Store Credit is issued on a physical card that says 'Store Credit' on the front — it cannot be loaded onto the Starbucks app or a regular Starbucks Card.
- Mobile Order & Pay refunds go back to the original payment method used in the app.
- There is no formal published refund policy for food and beverages — the standard practice is replacement, not cash refund.
- Starbucks Delivers orders placed directly through the Starbucks app use delivery partners but refund issues should go through Starbucks customer service.
- Keep your receipt — it is required for all merchandise returns and greatly speeds up any refund process.
McDonald's
- You purchase products directly from the individual restaurants, not McDonald's corporation. The restaurant is responsible for preparing and providing the products.
- For pricing errors, you should contact the specific restaurant where you made the purchase to request a refund for the difference.
- If you have a complaint about your experience, you should contact the restaurant in question or McDonald's Customer Care.
