Return Conditions
Advance Auto Parts
- Item must be returned as 'NEW', meaning in its original condition and packaging.
- Item must be unopened and uninstalled.
- Must include all original materials supplied with the item.
NAPA Auto Parts
- Products must be returned within 30 days of purchase or delivery.
- Items must be in their original packaging and condition.
- Installation cannot have been attempted, and parts must not be damaged in any way.
- Used cores must be returned in the box that contained the new product.
Exceptions & Restrictions
Advance Auto Parts
- Items identified as 'All Sales Final' are not eligible for return.
- Opened gaskets are nonrefundable.
- Electrical/electronic goods are nonrefundable.
- Third-party or outsourced merchandise, including certain Special Orders, Commercial Tools, and equipment, are subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.
- Clearance and 'AS IS' merchandise are non-refundable.
- Shipping and handling charges are not refundable unless the return is due to Advance Auto Parts' error.
- Core returns must be for the exact part purchased, in original packaging, and in fully rebuildable, undamaged condition. In some cases, fluids must be drained.
- Products purchased under a 'Buy One, Get One' offer may have specific return conditions.
NAPA Auto Parts
- All Clearance items or Final Sale merchandise cannot be returned and are not eligible for refunds.
- Batteries ordered through NAPAonline and shipped to your home cannot be returned via UPS; they MUST be returned at a participating NAPA Auto Parts store.
- Items that have been individually personalized with custom embroidery or screen print are not accepted for return.
Refund Methods
Advance Auto Parts
- Refunds are credited back to the original payment method.
- If the original credit/debit card is no longer active, the credit will be sent to the bank account associated with the original payment method.
- If the bank account is closed, the bank will route the credit to a new account, refund via check, or return the credit to Advance Auto Parts, which will then issue a check.
- Returns without proof of purchase receive an Advance Auto Parts merchandise gift card at the lowest selling price of the item in the last 45 days; no cash refunds are issued for such returns.
NAPA Auto Parts
- Refunds are issued to the original form of payment for the purchase price and applicable sales tax.
Online / Mail Returns
Advance Auto Parts
- Online purchases can be returned to any Advance Auto Parts store.
- Bring original packaging, receipt, and have your Order Confirmation email ready.
- Shipping and handling charges are not refundable unless the return is due to Advance Auto Parts' error.
NAPA Auto Parts
- Products purchased online and shipped to your home can be returned within 30 days of delivery by shipping them back or returning to a participating NAPA store.
- For ship-to-home returns via UPS, contact NAPA Customer Support to obtain a Return Goods Authorization Number (RGA) and a free UPS shipping label.
- Returns via UPS are free of charge.
- Participating NAPA stores can also process returns and exchanges of NAPAonline ship-to-home purchases without an RGA.
In-Store Returns
Advance Auto Parts
- Products can be returned to any Advance Auto Parts store.
- If returning without proof of purchase, a valid photo ID (Driver's License, State ID, Military ID, Permanent Resident Card, or Border Crossing Card) is required and will be recorded.
NAPA Auto Parts
- Products purchased at a NAPA Auto Parts store or reserved online and picked up in-store must be returned to the store of purchase within 30 days.
- Original receipt or order confirmation is required for in-store returns/exchanges.
- Returns and exchanges for Buy Online, Pick Up In Store purchases can be processed at participating NAPA Auto Parts stores.
- A Return Goods Authorization (RGA) is not required for in-store returns.

Damaged or Defective Items
Advance Auto Parts
- Items returned for warranty may be exchanged or refunded in most cases. The warranty period is 45 days from the purchase date or any longer warranty printed on the receipt.
- For defective exchanges, the defective item needs to be returned for a refund, and then the alternate item must be repurchased.
NAPA Auto Parts
- Eligible items received in damaged or defective condition can be returned.
- If the return reason is due to NAPAonline or its partners (damaged/defective/wrong part), freight charges on replacement items will be covered.
Exchange Policy
Advance Auto Parts
- Returns can result in an exchange or refund.
- Online orders do not currently support direct exchanges; a return for a refund is required, followed by a new purchase.
NAPA Auto Parts
- Exchanges for products purchased at a NAPA Auto Parts store can be made within 30 days at the original store of purchase, with the original receipt and in original condition/packaging.
- Participating NAPA stores can process exchanges for NAPAonline ship-to-home purchases.
- Products originally shipped to home were previously stated as not eligible for exchange, only refunds, but the primary return policy page indicates exchanges are possible at participating stores.

- Advance Auto Parts reserves the right to limit returns or exchanges at any time, for any reason.
- A valid photo ID is required for returns without proof of purchase, and information from the ID will be retained in a company-wide database to authorize returns.
NAPA Auto Parts
- Returns for products purchased online or in-store are free, with a 0% restocking fee and free return shipping for online orders.
- The return information primarily applies to NAPA replacement parts and components; orders within the accessories category (beginning with ACC) have a separate return policy and procedures.
