Cancellation Steps

- If required, send a written cancellation notice to ADT’s address provided in your contract, referencing your account number and the RMA number.
- Pack and ship the ADT equipment to the address specified in the RMA instructions within 21 days of receipt.
- Confirm with ADT that the equipment has been received and that any eligible refunds have been processed.
SimpliSafe
- Call SimpliSafe customer support at 1-888-783-8441 and provide your Safe Word to verify identity.
- Request cancellation of your monitoring plan; the representative will process the request and confirm the effective date.
- Receive a confirmation email confirming the cancellation; service will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle.

Third-Party Billing

- If you enrolled via a third‑party platform (e.g., Apple App Store or Google Play), you must also cancel the subscription through that platform’s billing settings to stop future charges.
Reactivation & Data Retention
ADT
- To reactivate, contact ADT Customer Service and provide your account details; a new contract or reinstatement fee may apply.
SimpliSafe
- You can restart monitoring at any time by signing back into the SimpliSafe app or web account and selecting a new plan.
- Alternatively, you may call customer support to reactivate the previous plan or choose a different one.
Additional Notes
ADT
- Cancellation after the initial 30‑day period triggers a termination charge equal to 75% of the remaining monthly fees (not a penalty, but a contract termination charge).
- Equipment must be returned in good condition before a refund is issued; ADT will issue a refund only after the returned items are inspected.
SimpliSafe
- Only the Account Owner (the person who created the SimpliSafe account) can cancel a monitoring plan; a Safe Word is required for security.
- Your hardware (base station, sensors, cameras) remains yours after cancellation; you may keep it or transfer it to another user without additional fees.
