Cancellation Steps
ChatGPT Plus (OpenAI)
- Log into ChatGPT at chat.openai.com.
- Click your profile icon and select **Settings**.
- In the **Account** tab, open the **Manage** dropdown and choose **Cancel Subscription**.
- Confirm the cancellation; the cancellation becomes effective the day after your next billing date, and you retain Plus features until the end of the current billing cycle.
Perplexity Pro
- Log in to your Perplexity account at perplexity.ai.
- Click your profile icon and go to 'Settings.'
- Scroll down to the 'Subscription' section under Perplexity Pro.
- Click 'Manage Subscription' — you will be redirected to your current plan page.
- Click 'Cancel Subscription' and confirm your choice.
- Your account will revert to the free version at the end of the current billing cycle — you retain Pro features until then.

Third-Party Billing
ChatGPT Plus (OpenAI)
- If you subscribed via the iOS App Store, cancel the subscription through your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- If you subscribed via the Google Play Store, cancel through the Play Store app or website under Menu → Subscriptions.
Perplexity Pro
- If subscribed via Apple App Store: go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → find Perplexity → Cancel Subscription.
- If subscribed via Google Play: open the Play Store → tap profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → find 'Perplexity - Ask Anything' → Cancel subscription.
- Ensure you cancel through the platform you originally used — canceling on the Perplexity website will not stop App Store or Google Play charges.
- If your subscription shows as 'managed by Apple/Google' on the Perplexity settings page, you must cancel through that platform.
Reactivation & Data Retention
ChatGPT Plus (OpenAI)
- You can reactivate by resubscribing to ChatGPT Plus at any time through the same web or app flow.
Perplexity Pro
- You can resubscribe to Pro at any time from the Perplexity Pro page.
- Your search history, collections, and account data are preserved after cancellation.
- You will be downgraded to the free tier with limited Pro Search queries per day.
Additional Notes
ChatGPT Plus (OpenAI)
- Cancellation must be completed at least 24 hours before the next billing date to avoid being charged for the next month.
- After cancellation, you continue to have access to Plus features until the end of the current paid period.
Perplexity Pro
- Perplexity Pro: $20/month or $200/year — unlimited Pro searches with advanced AI models (GPT-4, Claude, etc.), file uploads, and image generation.
- Perplexity Max: $200/month — everything in Pro plus unlimited access to full suite of advanced models, Sora 2 Pro video generation, no usage restrictions, and priority support.
- Free tier: limited Pro Search queries per day; standard search is unlimited.
- Cancel your subscription before deleting your account — deleting the account without canceling may not stop billing.
- Refund requests can be submitted through the Perplexity Help Center at perplexity.ai/help-center.
- No cancellation fees apply to any Perplexity subscription tier.
- Student and team plans have separate billing managed by organization admins.
