Cancellation Steps
Spotify
- Go to spotify.com/account and sign in
- Navigate to 'Manage your plan'
- Select 'Cancel subscription' (or 'Cancel Premium')
- Confirm cancellation
- Premium access continues until the next billing date, then reverts to free tier
YouTube Premium
- Visit youtube.com/paid_memberships.
- Locate your YouTube Premium membership.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to cancel.

Spotify
- Apple App Store: cancel through iOS Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > Spotify > Cancel. Refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com
- Google Play: cancel through Play Store > Subscriptions > Spotify > Cancel. Refund requests within 48 hours through Google Play Help Center
- Carrier/partner billing: contact the partner directly — a link appears on your Spotify Payment page
- You must cancel through the platform you originally subscribed with

Reactivation & Data Retention
Spotify
- All playlists, liked songs, saved albums, followed artists, and profile information are preserved permanently on the free tier
- Lost features: ad-free listening, offline downloads, unlimited skips, highest audio quality, Spotify Connect to all devices, group session hosting
- Downloaded tracks become unplayable immediately when Premium expires (not deleted, just inaccessible)
- Can resubscribe to Premium at any time to restore all features
YouTube Premium
- Re-subscribe to regain membership benefits.
Additional Notes
Spotify
- Premium Family: cancelling affects ALL members on the plan — only the plan manager can cancel; notify all members before cancelling
- Premium Duo: cancellation affects both members — only the plan manager can cancel
- Premium Student: if you resubscribe later, you must re-verify student status; periodic re-verification required regardless
- Free trial: if you cancel during a zero-priced free trial, your account switches to free immediately (not at end of trial); zero-priced trials cannot be reactivated once cancelled
- Gift cards cannot be refunded by Spotify — must be returned to the original retailer
- Exceptions for refunds: duplicate/accidental charges (contact Spotify support), Apple-billed (request through Apple), Google-billed (within 48 hours through Google)
- Before cancelling, consider using a playlist export tool (FreeYourMusic, Soundiiz) to back up playlists to other services
- No phone support — all support through support.spotify.com (online chat and web forms) or community.spotify.com
YouTube Premium
- Membership benefits continue until the end of the current billing period after cancellation.
- You will not be charged again unless you re-subscribe.
- If billed through Google Play, pausing is not available; cancel and re-subscribe instead.
